8 Tips For Crafting A Solid Treatment Plan
Choosing to become sober requires extreme dedication. You are embarking on a true feat, which means that you also need a solid recovery plan to back up your commitment. A healthy recovery plan encompasses every element of sobriety, from meeting physical and emotional needs to addressing your environment and relationships. As you craft your recovery plan, keep these tips in mind.
1. Address the Whole Problem
Often, addiction is not the entire problem. You must find the desire to stay engaged throughout the recovery process, and you should always expect a difficult transition period into sobriety. Even when other issues creep into the picture, you must stay committed to your plan. For this reason, writing down the plan is crucial.

As part of crisis planning, you should take note of what you want others to do when you are feeling out of control of your life. Write down the signs that other people need to step in. Let responsible parties know what medications you take, what plan of action works best for you, and where you would like to go for additional treatment.
4. Create a Safe Environment
Your home should be a safe space for your recovery. Your immediate environment should be free of triggers. You should return home after a day out with the feeling that you will be at peace when you enter those doors. 
5. Emphasize Physical Health
Your physical health makes a significant impact on your recovery, but it also helps you keep a healthy frame of mind. After withdrawal and detox, you cannot afford to overlook the basics like eating three balanced meals each day. You must also get a full night's worth of sleep and exercise regularly.
6. Receive Social Support
You must build a solid support network to have the best chance at recovery. Gather good friends you can rely on, preferably those who participate in the same hobbies and activities as you. Facebook groups are a great place to start in the search for friends with common interests. Healthy friendships encourage you to work toward your goal of sobriety.
7. Set Personal Goals
Even small, short-term goals can be the key to staying motivated in recovery. As part of your recovery plan, establish a plan for new hobbies, activities, and learning experiences.
While long-term goals are pertinent as well, make sure that you avoid major life changes in the immediate period after recovery. These changes can be traumatic and difficult.
